While executing work on the Vaughn project, IPC’s staff was awarded the Enbridge Highline Expansion (South Loop) project crossing the Moberly River.
This 400m, 42” diameter crossing was completed in 2017 with unique soft geological conditions consisting of sand and silt. These conditions meant that IPC had to make modifications to its process and operations to manage pressure stabilization to maintain face pressure advance rates up to 1.30mm/min (78m/h).
Project highlights and challenges included: a remote work location which meant for a long commute from the work site to hotel, with working days lasting 13+ hours.
With this project also being regulated by the NEB, IPC’s installation inspection passed all NEB inspections throughout the project. IPC selected for this project because of the project completed for TransCanada (HWY 16).
